Client Overview
Lowri Beck is a provider of field force services delivering metering systems, data capture and field management services to utilities and other organisations. The business supports clients across the energy and utilities sectors through a nationwide operational infrastructure and specialist technical expertise.
Objectives
Our relationship with Lowri Beck began in 2002, when Andrew Baggott advised the management team on the management buyout of the business.
Following the transaction, we continued to provide strategic and corporate finance advice to support the company’s growth. Over a number of years, the business expanded significantly, growing from approximately £3m in turnover to over £80m.
As the company reached a new stage of development, the shareholders sought a strategic exit that would allow them to realise value while positioning the business for its next phase.
Our Role
We acted as long-term corporate finance advisors throughout the company’s growth journey and ultimately supported the shareholders through the sale process.
Our involvement included:
- Advising on strategic growth initiatives and market expansion
- Raising multiple rounds of development capital
- Assessing potential acquirers and managing the sale process
- Supporting negotiations to maximise shareholder value
- Managing financial, legal and commercial due diligence
- Assisting with completion accounts preparation and negotiation
The Outcome
The business was successfully sold to Calisen, a private equity-backed energy infrastructure and utilities solutions group.
Through a structured negotiation process, we were able to achieve a significant increase on the buyer’s initial offer while ensuring the transaction structure aligned with the shareholders’ objectives. The deal represented the culmination of a long-term advisory relationship and the successful realisation of the value created through the company’s growth.
